Before the interview I would like to say few words about the LoL Croatia portal. Guru Gaming has decided to support us in our site preparations and offered a place where we can publish a couple of starting news or other content which will serve as a test to see how many people are even interested in reading our stuff outside our Facebook page. A portal and forum can give us a lot of good features that Facebook probably won’t be able to provide in any near future. Things like tournaments sponsored by Riot, a unique place where you can find guides, streams and other things from our Croatian players in a more organized form. Now, when you know our reasons for posting here, I would like to present you a interview with the #1 LoL solo Q EUNE player – RGESC Tiridus. Enjoy reading it!

LoL Hr:

Since you are maybe relatively unknown to our players, mostly because there are no ‘show lights’ around you even though you are the #1 player in solo queue on nordic&east server and doing very well with your team, can you please describe yourself in few sentences?

Tiridus:

I’m 17 years old and I come from Sweden where I’m studying nature science. Apart from studying I am playing a great deal of League of Legends; since January 2010 and no intention to stop any time soon. As a League player I would consider myself a strong aggressive mid laner who plays consistent apart from games every now and then where I flunk up terribly. Other than that am I glad to help anyone out with whatever trouble they may have in League and I’m intending to become a educational streamer.

LoL Hr:

What do you love about playing mid lane? Are there any champions which can be called your favorites?

Tiridus:

Well, the first thing I love about playing mid lane is the champion pool; the different skills and mechanics as well as the large variety of ‘roles’ (as in AD carry/bruiser/AP carry) you can play there. Also in mid lane you probably have the most impact on the game – jungle might have more. There’s just so much you can bring to the team with all roaming potential. Favorite champions would be Ahri, Lux, Twisted Fate, Zed and Orianna.

LoL Hr:

How did things with team Counter Counter Clockwise start?

Tiridus:

The team started as Could Have Been Good where me and my brother as well as our buddy in real life Arezir were the team-creators and formed a Swedish team. Time went on and we eventually dropped the 2 other team members and picked up our Danish support, Niko3333 and our Lithuanian AD carry Strategas. After that Arezir, our former jungler, left due to school and mutual decision and picket up Snubbet09. Eventually he needed to part away as well and we tried out junglers until we picked Serton up last January. Jewdyr joined 28th October 2011 as manager and Coronou as coach joined when Serton was picked up.

LoL Hr:

How do you organize your scrims, practice schedules and things related to improving your teamplay?

Tiridus:

We’ve written down when we’re available to play games, and recently we’ve contacted a few teams and trying to schedule a time for a scrim. Also we have a skype room where leaders from teams are in where you can ask for scrims. However, there’s need of improvement in our practising schedule. Would be optimal if we could get a stricter schedule as well as team-talk at a certain time.

LoL Hr:

Does your team have a sponsor or someone who supports you?

Tiridus:

Yes, we got recently picked up by Revolt Gentlemen e-Sports Club (RGESC), a Turkish organisation who seem very professional – we’re definitely happy with them.

LoL Hr:

What is the main goal for your team in this season?

Tiridus:

This particular Season I would wish us to attend to Dreamhack Summer and if possible more LAN events and win some more tasty Go4LoLmoney as well as reducing our flaws as a team.

LoL Hr:

How did you initially get to high elo? Did you shoot right up? Did it take awhile? What champions did you play at the time?

Tiridus:

I’ve never played much Ranked, and especially not in Season 1. In the beginning I was playing top 1-2 games a week until mid season where I realized I was at least somewhat good on the game and steadily climbed to 2000 ELO. Back then I didn’t really have a favorite role from what I can remember, just favorite champions; Brand, Caitlyn and Vladimir.

LoL Hr:

Do you think elo matters in judging someone’s skill? Would you consider having an average elo player on your pro team? Please explain why?

Tiridus:

I think ELO/League system definitely has a somewhat-measure of skill though by no means actually define your true skill. If I would see potentional in the player then I would definitely be fine with playing with him/her though I would rather try out a higher ranked player. In our early days me and my brother were teamed with 2 1300-1400′s and one 1600 for a long time.

LoL Hr:

In solo queue, how do you deal with bad teammates? Ragers, trolls, noobs, feeders, etc.

Tiridus:

SoloQueue is much about having the proper mindset, if you don’t have it then you’ll be easily affected by team mates. I myself, do not care much about players playing bad/having a bad game because that happens to everybody, nor do I care about somebody being a complete beginner at the game. About Ragers/Intentional feeders/Intentional AFK-ers am I just wondering why do they do it. I just can’t comprehend why you would flame someone in order to boost your ego momentarily. For them I wish they would improve their behavior and if they’re not willing; well then I just ignore them and report them after the game. Pro-tip: don’t care whether you win or lose but do your very best to achieve a win. You’ll enjoy the game much more.

LoL Hr:

There’s so many posts/protests about ‘ELO hell’ where people complain about their teammates. What is your opinion about ‘ELO hell’ and do you have any suggestions to players who think they are stuck  in there?

Tiridus:

ELO Hell is definitely just a state of mind – it’s a made up excuse for your current position. There’s no such thing in reality that is ELO Hell and if you are good enough and if you play enough you will rise in ranking. Sure players are worse in bronze/silver/gold ranking than Diamond and Challenger but it’s how the system is built, better players are ranked higher than those who are not as good. As I said before, however, does this not mean just because you’re lower ranked doesn’t necessarily you’re a worse player. It takes hundreds of games before you’re close to your ‘real ELO’ and just because you’ve experienced a loss streak does this not mean that you’re in ELO Hell – losing games due only bad team mates. What you need to do in order to improve as a player and as a team player is to have the right state of mind. For a more in-depth explanation in order to raise your chances of winning/improving am I highly recommending you reading this particular guide which I’ve written here.

LoL Hr:

How many hours a day, on average, do you play LoL? Is there any place people can see you play and even learn something from you?

Tiridus:

The ammount of hours/day I play depends on the day itself and what’s going on but on a normal week; in between 3-10h I would imagine. Apart from my Improving Yourself guide I am streaming mostly on week-ends at www.twitch.tv/Trollidus.

LoL Hr:

Are you making money by playing LoL? If so, is it enough for you to live off of? Do you do anything besides playing LoL? School, work, etc.

Tiridus:

Yes, I’m making money from League but in no way near enough to live for nor is it secure. It’s only when we win a tournament – usually Go4LoL – I earn money which is 60 euros/team member. Apart from League I am studying Nature Science in high school (Gymnasium in Swedish).

LoL Hr:

What do you like to do for fun other than playing LoL?

Tiridus:

There’s a few other games I enjoy playing, namely Binding of Isaac/Skyrim. More than that am I enjoying movies/Golfing/Skiing and every now and then hanging out with friends. Also reading a good book is definitely a pleasure of mine.

LoL Hr:

What type of music do you listen to while playing?

Tiridus:

I’ve always been terrible on knowing what music I like and as a matter of fact the only reason why I started listening to music was due to the fact I wanted to stream. Mostly I like listening to Shinedown/Dream Theater/Three Days Grace/All Hans Zimmer (movie music)/ Ratatat.

LoL Hr:

Some people want to know about the fan girls since girls are not common thing in gaming. Do you have fan girls? Are there lots of them? Are you currently single or taken?

Tiridus:

There’s a few fan girls I know of though, who knows, might be more. Currently I’m single.

LoL Hr:

Any last words?

Tiridus:

Last words? Well I really do enjoy the word Forklift. Forklift. On a serious note however, shoutout to my team members Mowarth, Strategas, Niko3333, Serton, Jewdyr, mikeyr and Coronou as well as our sponsors from RGESC. Also a huge shoutout to our fans and supporters! If you want to contact me you could throw a question in my AMA @ League official forums or you can contact me through our facebook fan page.

hr

Osim škole, dosta vremena provodim igrajući igru League of Legends, koju igram od siječnja 2010. godine i nemam namjeru prestati u skoroj budučnosti. Kao LoL igrača, sebe bih opisao kao jakog agresivnog mid igrača čije igre variraju, nekada ću odigrati stvarno odlično, a nekada dosta loše. Povrh svega toga, volim pomoći igračima koji imaju bilo kakva pitanja vezana za League of Legends te imam namjeru postati edukacijski streamer.

LoL Hr:

LoL Hr:

Kako je započela ta cijela stvar oko ekipe Counter Counter Clockwise?

Tiridus:

Team je započeo pod imenom ‘Could Have Been Good’ u kojem smo ja, moj brat i IRL prijatelj Arezir oformili švedski tim.

LoL Hr:

Kako si ti postigao ‘high ELO’? Jesi li se odmah podigao? Je li ti dugo trebalo? Koje si champione tada igrao?

Tiridus:

Ja nikada nisam igrao puno ranked matcheva, ponajviše u 1. sezoni.

U ranim početcima ja i moj brat smo bili u teamu s dvojicom 1300-1400′s ELO igrača i jednim s 1600 i to dosta dugo.

LoL Hr:

U solo q mečevima, kako izlaziš na kraj s lošim igračima u timu? Ragerima, trollovima, noobovima, feederima, itd.

Tiridus:

LoL Hr:

Koliko sati dnevno, u prosjeku, igraš LoL? Postoji li neko mjesto gdje igrači mogu vidjeti kako ti igraš te nešto i naučiti od tebe?

Tiridus:

LoL Hr:

LoL Hr:

Čime se baviš izvan LoLa?

Tiridus:

Postoji nekoliko igara koje volim odigrati, Binding of Isaac/Skyrim.

Većinom volim poslušati sljedeće bendove Shinedown/Dream Theater/Three Days Grace/All Hans Zimmer (glazba iz filma)/ Ratatat.

LoL Hr:

Trenutno sam slobodan.

LoL Hr:

Imaš li nešto za reći za kraj?

Tiridus:

Za kraj? Pa, jako mi se sviđa riječ Forklift. Forklift. No sada malo ozbiljnije, pozdrav mojim igračima iz tima: Mowarth, Strategas, Niko3333, Serton, Jewdyr, mikeyr i Coronou te također našim sponzorima iz RGESCa. Također, veliki pozdrav našim fanovima i ljudima koji nas podržavaju! Ako me želite kontaktirati to možete učiniti putem- AMA @ LoL official forums ili putem našeg Facebook fan pagea.
